Everything Center Pack, A Freebie Update and a Sale!

Hiya there peeps

Shuna here

I hope you are enjoying your summer

Can you believe it is slipping away so quickly

I mean HELLO

it is the end of June

Stop the presses

When did that happen?!

Time to get back to planning for school.

After July 4th it is down hill from there

I will be going to my classroom trying to get it set up

Since I am new to the school I know that I am going to have to do a lot of purging in my new room

Anyhoo

If you have been following my blog you know how much I love centers. They are my favorite part of the day.

If you have never done centers before they can be a bit overwhelming

but they are so worth it because they allow your students to explore and learn in ways that are fun and engaging to them.

They also build great social skills like cooperation, sharing and problem solving.

I love planning centers for my students and watching them explore, is awesome

My room looks like a hurricane during centers but the kiddos so enjoy the time

One of my coworkers asked me to make a center pack for them...LAST YEAR

and I am just now getting finished with it

This puppy has taken me forever to finish

I wanted it to be a guide for new and veteran teachers alike to show how to set up and implement centers.

I am happy to say that I think I accomplished just that

You can check out this pack here

If you are looking for a more ink friendly version I also have this pack available in white with dots of color

You can click here to check it out

Word Families!

Hiya there peepers

Shuna here

Today's blog post will be all about word families!

I know, I know

it is summer and you probably don't want to think about going back to school.

BUT

It's never too early to start planning right?!

Word Families are a fun way to teach the kiddlets how to read!

We all know the first words that kinders learn right?!

I, see, and cat

I love when my kiddos say, "Ms. Patterson I know that word it is bat!"

So, why are word families so important?

It is proven that strong readers are ones who can decode new words based off their knowledge of previous words. When a child can do this then they will be able to read fluently and with confidence.

Here is a quick look at some of the things that I use to teach word families

I first start by introducing the words at the beginning of the week

I have these word fam posters that I love. I also have some poems that we use everyday. The poems are so helpful for my students because they put the words in context for them. After a week studying each word family the posters and poems move to the word family station where the kiddos can continue to reference them during their centers.

One cool thing that I found this year was Prezi! I love, love, love them and so do the kiddlets

They love the interactive nature of the Prezi

Jessica makes a lot of word family prezis(sp) that you can check out here for FREE!

I also use flour pans to provide that hands on interaction

These are great to use during GR and helps the kiddos really connect the letters in each word together.

Left over eggs are an  awesome and cheap center

Letter Beads are great too!

Lastly,

I have talked about this site a lot but I love Mrs. Jones room

I am a musical person so I have to have music playing at all time

Mrs. Jones has some cool songs that we use to help us remember our words

Click here to check it out

In other but related news

I posted some new word family packs today!

I am so excited about these.

Here is the latest in my word family series

The -AP word family

I also finished up 3 Read It, Do It, Make It Packs

I am so excited for my kinders to use these

They love using letter beads and playdough

So I combined 2 of their favorite things

f

These are in my store and are between $1.25-2.00
( You can click here, here, and here to check them out)

Since I am making a series out of my Code Crackin' and Read It, Do It, Make It packs

I have decided to bundle them together

I have decided to go ahead and post the bundle now at a lower price and will update it each time I create a new pack until the bundle reaches the max size of 100 MB.

There are 3 Code Crackin packs and 3 Read It, Do It, Make It packs included in the bundle right now

The total value of this pack is 16.50

BUT

I am posting it for $10

each time the pack is updated the price will go up

For today only

Sunday, June 16th

I will post the pack for $7!

If you get it now you will be able to download the pack whenever it is updated and have all the new packs

Okay

Peace Out Peeps

Hop you have had time to kick up your feet and relax.

Where's Waldo { Play to Win}?????

Hiya there peeps!

Shuna here

I feel like I have been MIA for the last couple of weeks

Some of you may know that I made a major move

I am now a TEXAS blogger!

I am excited but a bit overwhelmed!!!!!

I have boxes everywhere.

Seriously, they are taking over my life

I H.A.T.E moving

Things are so crazy right now

I don't operate well in chaos

Organized chaos, yes

but this kind of chaos

Not so much

Anyhoo

I have had a little time to sit down and finish this pack that I started in April

I have already started to think about next year

Usually I have a vast array of kinders that come in

Some knowing all of their alphabet and are ready to read and some who need some help to get to that point.

I made a little alpha pack to help my kiddos build alpha sense

This pack shows students different ways that letters can be written

I want my kiddos to be exposed to seeing letters in a different way so when they see them in print they will be able to recognize them!

You can check it out below!

Make sure to download the preview to get 3 sample sheets free!

Moving right along

In honor of Waldo returning, that's me peeps, I thought I would have a little giveaway

You know how much I love a giveaway right?!

Peace Out Peeps

Shut the Front Door!

Hiya there peeps

Shuna here

I just discovered a cool new trick in Powerpoint today!

I was playing around with Powerpoint today and discovered an easy way to save your work as JPEGS/PNGs!

Did you know that you can insert all your jpegs/png into a powerpoint on different slides?

I didn't

Oh my word

My world stopped!

This is going to save me so much time!

Pay no never mind to my voice

I am sure I sound like a 12 year old :)

For the record I save all mine slides as png files because they are clearer

The process is the same to save your work as png instead of jpegs

***Sorry Mac peeps but this will only work on a PC***
Peace out Peeps
