I am upset! today has not been a good day

Today started off like a normal day but then the bottom fell!

I tried to get some gas and my card got declined!

I don't know how or why but someone accessed my account  and stole almost $600! I called the bank and they told me that I probably will not be able to recoup all or any of the money since I used my card after they did. I am really bad about check my account info and this time it has come back to bite me in the butt.

I dont know what to do. Just at a total lost right now

  1. Oh my gosh! That is awful!! I can't believe the bank won't help you. Do they really expect you to check the account every day? (I NEVER do...eek!).
    I hope you get some help with that :(

  2. I am so sorry that happened to you! It happened to me with ebay....some years ago. However, my bank called to tell me and the people had taken some crazy amount, like 3200.00! they asked if I had been on a trip outside of the country recently, no, they said someone had taken the money. Thank gosh they helped me because my hubby was about to flip out. Needless to say I was banned from buying anything on ebay for a while! I hope they end up helping you. these criminals are too good at what they do....the normal people like us who work for our money are always the ones that get taken!

  3. I had my card number stolen earlier this year and the person spent like $1100.00 on cigars in Mexico or something crazy like that! My bank covered it all and their fraud alert was what actually caught it because it was a suspicios transaction. Double check into your bank's policy etc. because I really think they should cover it or help you. If not change banks for sure because most will help you. So sorry- I know how bad this stinks.

  4. Your bank should cover that and usually they put a fraud alert on the account! You should fight to get your money back!

  5. So sorry to hear this! I hope your bank does help! We had a similar problem but were able to re-coup the money through our protection with the bank!

  6. I'm sorry to hear about this. I hope your bank helps you. There are some dishonest people out there. A few years ago my hubby and I lived in a not so great neighborhood and on the day I was scheduled to go in and get my gallbladder out I got a phone call. It was a repo person asking me if I knew where my neighbor was or the truck I supposedly cosigned on. Well at the time I was teaching Kinder, didn't own any car of my own and wasn't really friendly with any neighbors since we both commuted and came home exhausted. Well the lady really didn't believe me, but I let her know we have people who dumpster dive in that condo complex. So glad we sold and moved away. This too shall pass.

  7. Oh my! I'm so sorry that happened to you. i agree with everyone above - the bank should be helping you and putting a fraud alert, moving your acct, etc. for you - this happened to my mom and they did that for her.
